Chalking Into Spring

It's the end of the month, and time for CHALK-A-BRATION, and it's POETRY FRIDAY, all hosted by Betsy at Teaching Young Writers.  Thanks Betsy!

Again, I used an app on my IPad to draw my "chalk poem".  Spring is finally arriving in Denver, although the mountains have had snow again!  It's our latest spring flowering in a long time, at least that I remember.  I have finally planted some annuals!  I think we're past the possible freezing nights!

  1. It seems that spring is late everywhere this year. I love your opening line, reminding us that it takes both sunshine and rain for the flowers to bloom. Thanks for sharing!

    1. Thank you Catherine. I should have also said that we've had good rain this 'late' spring, so different from our drought last year.

    2. Welcome spring! In upstate NY we went from freezing nights to 90 degree days in a matter of a day. Crazy weather. I love your chalk poem. And I like how you put the vocabulary of a flower into your poem. As always, great to read what you are writing.

  2. Glad Spring has finally sprung in your neck of the woods. It *is* late this year. Love the sunbeams and water streams in the opening lines and the seed's letter -- and what a cool app!

  6. So happy your spring has finally arrived!

What a beautiful poem with all those echoing sounds that rhyme in surprising places "better / letter" and "knowing / rgrowing" - love it!. By the way, I post a monthly prompt on my writer-blog, and this month it's 'seed'. Your poem fits right in!

    2. Oh, Linda, late to checking the blogs this week. Hard to keep up as I would like to do some weeks. Love your poem a lot AND want to try the App. I don't yet have an IPad but think I may have to consider it. Droid phone is too small and computer, too heavy. There is so much gold surrounding us in this fabulous PF and writers' world online. Will investigate the App and Happy Spring time to you. We had a heatwave and now it is cooler. But the sun shines and all is well. Just heard about the Impatiens blight so will be searching for different plants this year soon.

    3. Thanks Janet! I hope you do manage to get an IPad-not good for everything, but many things terrific.

  10. What app did you use? (I think it's about time I get a stylus for my iPad.)

    1. Hi Stacey! Yes, I used a stylus, but could have used my finger if the poem had been shorter. The app is Chalkboard. I did the upgrade for (I think) $1.99).
