Celebrating - Each Little Thing

Many celebrate each Saturday or Sunday with Ruth Ayres at Discover Play Build and the rest of the wonderful community that celebrates together.

So, the little things that keep me living happy:

Wednesday, before the snowstorm and cold moved in, tree trimmers came and worked fast to trim my huge old cottonwood. They did a wonderful job. I'm always grateful for those who are expert in things I cannot do, who help me "fix" things.

Also Wednesday was Grandpeople's Day. For the first time I got to be a "Grand-person" and visit Ingrid in her classroom. Here she is getting ready to show me her learning portfolio, and a picture of one of her unit projects.

Family and friends of course, and especially this week, it's been a lot of family, a lovely warm (but so cold and snowy outside) Thanksgiving with my daughter, son-in-law, and the two grand-girls. FYI-Imi doesn't like to have her picture taken, so you have to be fast, which I wasn't on this day. She's hiding under that green chair!

I had good visits via phone with my brother, then my son. My grandson Carter is preparing to leave on Monday (with his parents and one other family) for Costa Rica to complete his Eagle project with Scouts there. He made the connection and learned of a need on a visit last year.  The planning is done, now for the completion!  It will be a placement of re-cycling centers throughout a park there.

No picture, but worked another shift at the bookstore. Lovely time, not too slick on the roads, and my car started. (It was ten degrees!) I was afraid I wouldn't have customers on such a cold and icy day, but I did, and they were friendly and fun to talk with. I read a few books from the children's area, enjoyed wandering along the shelves, trying to memorize some of the inventory. It's like browsing in the library, and discovering unfamiliar books that look interesting.

Ingrid and Imi came home for a sleepover Friday night, played with toys here, and then we made play dough. That took the evening. If you want a wonderful recipe that takes little time, and is better than the store kind, send an e-mail. It is soft and each recipe makes a big batch, then can choose the color, and imagine anything.

Now they're gone, I have the rest of the weekend to write, read and maybe nap. Good little things!

  1. Sounds like a really nice weekend. Warm heart, even though it's so cold outside. I'm embarrassed to admit that even though I walk the dog past that bookstore at least five times a week, I have never been in! Yikes!

    1. Well, you do have lots of books, I know, Carol. Maybe someday? During our holiday break? It was a nice week and holiday too. I enjoyed the way you wrote the poetry roundup, so thoughtful.

  2. Write, read, and nap - delightful little things! My little friend, Imi, loves to pose for the camera (but maybe that will change as she gets older). Love the empty green chair!

    1. Yes, she doesn't like to pose very much, but occasionally! Thanks, Ramona.

  3. Love hearing about your grandchildren. Costa Rica for an Eagle project sounds amazing. Boy Scouts have really got it going on for young people. We've had many Eagle projects that have made a difference in our small town.
We are having high temps and humidity. Can you send some cool air our way please!

    1. Yes, Carter is so excited about his project! Nice to hear about the projects in your town. I hope it all goes beautifully! Hard to believe that you're having a heat wave, and we have this bitter cold. It is supposed to warm up by Tuesday. Thanks, Margaret.

  4. I'm glad you had such a good week. I have been thinking about you because of the terrible weather forecasts that have been broadcasted all week for your area.

    1. It certainly was quite a storm that moved in Wed. night, snow and cold. Thank goodness it really wasn't an ice storm, but just freezing snow. Thanks, Bernadette.

    1. Yep, a good week, and although it must have been hard for some, the weather made it nice and cozy inside. Thanks, Jane.
