A Couple of Nice Days

I'm slicing with the Two Writing Teachers community today. It's always a pleasure to read what everyone writes about their lives.
For those who celebrated, hoping your family was fun, and your feast a feast, no matter what you served.
I am still sad and worried about the election result, am reading and doing what I think I can to keep things I believe are important for all Americans.  I've signed petitions, sent messages, donated to certain groups. There is so much to take in, and much to be sure I'm aware of.

And, I continue to live my life, work at the bookstore, have lovely times with family, including the grand-girls. Ingrid spent two days last week with me and I helped her shop for family members. She was given a certain amount of money and had to plan well to be able to afford gifts for each person. I shopped too and had Ingrid help me choose some of my gifts also. We had an early treat at Starbucks, and late lunch, then went home to spend the rest of the afternoon and evening wrapping. It was a joy of a day. The next day we woke to light snow, stayed home and I helped Ingrid write some poetry and create some turkey place cards for our Thanksgiving. Among all the other things I do to create a good life, I will always put the grandchildren first. FYI, after these two days, Ingrid and I picked up Imogene from school and spent the rest of the day playing and going out for dinner. And, one evening last week I had a good phone call from Carter. It was a nice 'grandchild' week!

  1. Sounds like you and Ingrid and a lovely couple of days, Linda. Sometimes we just need a day with family to enjoy and take our minds off of what is happening around us. It is the only way to stay sane.Love the turkey place cards.

    1. Thanks, Bob. You are right, having those days meant a different experience and one that was simply fun, no worries.

  2. I loved "reliving" your Thanksgiving holiday with you and your grandkids. We don't have grandchildren (yet), but I am all for spending the time with people I love doing ordinary things. I am very thankful to be able to do just that.

  3. Sounds completely blissful! It reminds me to slow down the hectic pace of my life - with 2 teenage boys - and embrace the small moments. I am breathing more slowly and letting things a few things on my to-do list go!! Thank you.

  4. It never gets tiring reading about your time with your grandkids. You are an awesome grandma - making the time, having the patience, generating ideas and most of all appreciating the children. Wishing you lots of health and energy.

  5. Even in these worrisome times, there are antidotes & vaccines. I am so glad you have the grandbabes to inoculate you.

  6. The grands are just the inoculation you need from our ghastly news, Linda - they are the future, and the future looks beautifully promising.

  8. So hard to keep the personal life enough when the outside reality beats at the door. UGH! I can't get my Hillary images out of my head. I don't want to.

  9. Your posts always make me smile, Linda. You and your grandchildren are so lucky to have each other. There is nothing like the bond between grandparents and their grandchildren. Happy Thanksgiving!

  10. I just love those pictures of Ingrid. I saw many of them on Facebook last week. You have very lucky grandgirls to get to spend so much time with such a great grandmother. Cherish these times always, Linda!

  11. I want to know who is getting the buffalo? ;) All kidding aside, I know as a mother, I adore the time my kids get with their Grandmothers. Thank you for sharing that time with your Grandchildren! I too have been writing to people, getting active, worrying, etc. But I've also heard some of people's stories; and the election process reminded me that the People of America are hopeful and beautiful. "It" (The election) resolved me to lean in and keep hearing people as they tell their stories.

  12. Thanks Margaret, Bonnie, Julie, Jennifer and Kendra. I've been away since the afternoon, then had my writing group. I love hearing you like those grand-girl stories, and hope you all have time in your lives for young ones, some of you when your own "young ones" grow up! And I won't stop working against those actions that I think are wrong. All together we will fight!
