My recent days have made me thankful for so much, from nearby and far away family and friends. I was sorry not to be able to connect with most of you who were here at NCTE, but so glad that the weather held for everyone! There was no snow, which may come this weekend, and so needed. We've only had a bit of rain in the past couple of months and it's stayed mostly in the fifties - quite unusual for us in Denver. The mountains are in dire need. They usually have many come in for this long holiday weekend, but few resorts have opened. SOON?
I wrote a poem for all of you who have prepared for or helped with Thanksgiving dinner. I share the prep now with my daughter and son-in-law, but I remember other times, with family, busy, busy!
The Way It Is
Slice, mix, boil, toil
Stir, peel, shake, bake
Shell, carve, baste, taste
Melt, pour, dip, sip
A toast to you this special day!

Bravo! It is exactly this in my kitchen. This year, I pleaded with my family to just let me do the cooking. I don't know why but it's easier if I make the meal. I did give all the clean up and weekend cooking to them, though. I mean fair is fair right? I'm off to have pie for breakfast. It's the best part of Thanksgiving. Happy Thanksgiving you YOU!

ReplyDeleteThose verbs capture it all! My younger kiddo didn't make it home this year, but she shared photos of the thanksgiving that she and her spouse hosted. Fun to think of them taking the reins.

ReplyDeleteHello dear Linda, A warm & delicious kitchen tribute poem - appreciations! I mouth-water & smile in a special way, for the pecan pie crafters. Our daughter made ours her signature & now happily working Tor the Good" across the pond", she isn't baking in our kitchen at the Giving Thanks time anymore. But, like your longed for Colorado snow that surely will be here next month, she & her hubby, our bonus son, will be arrive quite a generous bit, before Christmas. Let it Snow! Which it did here in Tallahassee, this year :)
