I've been walking out a lot, mostly early mornings or during twilight, when it's much cooler. My mail comes late, really! So I often have a mile circuit that ends up at the mailbox. My neighborhood shares banks of boxes!
And, as I shared last week, I am reading the news, fussing about much of it, and doing what I believe is helpful to those in need. People, lots of people, are complaining about the high prices, our recent crisis, it appears, of "affordability". Of course, think 'tariffs'!
Here's my tip for you:

I spent a bunch of time with Dolly Parton this week! Perhaps you did, too! And, I found this, among so many precious words.
“If you see someone without a smile, give them yours.”
Linda, I went for a walk at twilight last night too. For the second time in my life I saw a fisher. It stopped in the middle of the road and stared … until my dog caught wind and lost it. You’re right, there’s always something interesting outside!

Appreciations for sharing that great word smile from Dolly - yes, all in our family have devoured the history & hugeness of her gifts to The World. Your poem is spot-on! I'm grateful to see colors & on nighttime walks [ too hot daytie in this suburban but woodsy neighborhood of hidden, linked streets] the miniature nearby star-dots of fireflies, swooping owl that for some reason flies low & occasional bats.

ReplyDeleteI love that you're not just reading and worrying, but acting, too. I've been doing less of that and more avoiding the news altogether. Which doesn't really help, I know. Thank goodness for nature and walking.

ReplyDeleteMy husband and I walk everyday, when we can together and sometimes we solo walk when the other has work. On our second walk today, we were both a bit tired, it was 6:30 pm, and he asked do we want to walk via the alley, I said no the beauty is out here with the trees and flowers. Thanks also for Dolly's loving words, she really gave us all so much!

DeleteLinda, your attitude toward life is always one of support. Politics is a fierying up again as you know. Your daily walk must be delightful as you admire nature. Your tip is good advice to remember, "colors have no price tag". That line is a creative one and a great reminder that we need to keep in mind. Have a great weekend.

DeleteLinda, yes, I've been spending a lot of time with Dolly this week too. Whenever I see a flag at half staff, I have to smile. Not many people would prompt that kind of response from America these days. Your poem is perfect for these days of unaffordability.
