I liked to incorporate imaginative play into my curriculum whenever and wherever I could. I know it's good for kids. It makes for good adults.
I love Barbara Cooney's illustrations especially in any book. Being from Maine, I was fortunate enough to be able to meet Barbara a number of years ago.Donna Smithhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13738281869266957726noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-319624163132382197.post-52761795598547040842011-12-29T07:43:04.611-07:002011-12-29T07:43:04.611-07:00Thank you for reminding me of Roxaboxen! Your description certainly makes it sound beautiful! The story of your interview is precious as well.

I once stumbled upon the discovery that most of my students who are in honors have played imaginatively (using blankets for capes, etc.) and most of my students who are in regular classes have not had those experiences. Seems to me that we need more play in school as a result!Christy Rush-Levinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15581876400990779210noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-319624163132382197.post-37737191554624642452011-12-26T20:09:04.977-07:002011-12-26T20:09:04.977-07:00Oh- I so want to read this book now! I thought it was very interesting and showed a part of history often avoided.Kelleehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09402368920655764307noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-319624163132382197.post-52904410681129257802011-12-26T18:03:43.252-07:002011-12-26T18:03:43.252-07:00I love this book.
