My ten year-old is reading Turtle in Paradise now so I have been re-reading it a bit with her--I love the voice and characters in it! Iphigene has also done a review of The Penderwicks but I haven't had a chance to read through my copy yet. I have also borrowed the book "Planting the trees of Kenya" and I had hoped to review it for our Girl Power bimonthly theme - it's also a lovely picture book biography that is a part of my reading list every time I give a talk about recommended book titles. I've read Polacco's Junkyard Wonders which is also based on the author's early years of growing up as a dyslexic, but this particular book I haven't seen yet. Will look for it in our library.

We would be starting with a "Books about Books" theme in the middle of September, and right now we are on the look out for great titles that would be a perfect fit. I have a feeling that "The Year of the Book" would be just that, thanks for sharing. I haven't read anything by Stiefvater yet, but I have heard really good things about her writing. Will probably look into that hopefully before year ends. :)GatheringBookshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04477710897574769648noreply@blogger.com
