How To Go To Mars-Dreamin'

How To Go To Mars
(At least if you ever want to)

I guess when I really want to go to Mars
Is when my life is most filled with things
That I simply MUST do
And
I don’t want to do
So I think
How will I get to Mars?
And then I say:
I know—
I’ll draw a space ship
And find some fuel
And then I’ll find a spaceman
To fly me there
And then I’ll find Mars
And then and then—I’ll
Just
Relax
All the way to Mars!

  1. Okay, Linda. You may go to Mars, but only if you can still blog from there. Wouldn't Montana work just as well? Seriously, I hope you have a peaceful, restful Sunday. Be refreshed!

    1. Montana is a beautiful place for sure, but... Actually I'm going to my three year old's birthday party-as good as Mars!

  2. Hi there Linda, I agree with Jama's comment, make sure they have wifi over at the red planet, we can't miss any of your glorious thoughts, now, can we? :)

    1. Isn't it amazing that we are talking across the ocean anyway, Myra. I know it's evening there now, so hope you've had a wonderful day! Thanks for the compliment.

  3. I have to laugh, because my first thought was swing by Michigan first! Or, maybe Jama and I should just make a trip too; a meeting on Mars. Anything is possible through poetry!

    1. Love that first, swing by Michigan. We all have our favorite places to go, don't we? And I agree Betsy. I had the funniest thought this am. We actually had rain last night & I thought about the chalk poems, being so elusive, rather an interesting way to think about them, isn't it?

  4. Oooo, I like this idea. The line "when my life is most filled with things/ That I simply MUST do/And/
I don’t want to do." speaks to me. I think we all have those things in our lives when we briefly think of escaping for awhile so we don't have to do the necessary, messy things in our life. Mars sounds like a great place!

Hope all is well with you.

    1. Thanks Deb. I do need an escape, but I imagine Ingrid's party will do beautifully! Things are not great, but hopeful, I think. Onward & onward, I say!

  5. I'm with Deb - my favorite line was this: Is when my life is most filled with things
That I simply MUST do. Beautiful.

  6. What a romantic notion to be whisked away to Mars in a self-drawn spaceship fueled by pure desire! I usually just say that I wish humans had the ability to hibernate. Mars sounds much more adventurous than curling up for a long sleep.

I am enchanted by this poem, but what strikes me more here is all of your replies to the comments people have left. Your replies are not only thoughtful, but they demonstrate how much you care, how well you know all of these fellow bloggers. Your ability to connect is inspiring. I am glad you are moving onward & onward and that Ingrid's birthday party is going to be a treat for you!

    1. You are dear to say those kind things, Christy - I just reply as if I was talking, I think. And we do know something of each other's lives, don't we? Hope your Sunday
      Has gone well!

  7. Lines 9 through 15 have a breathless quality to them...the anticipation of relaxation, perhaps?! I love the way you've taken off with poetry, and that you are inspired to let your imagination soar (as you did today...all the way to Mars!) and take you to unexpected places.
Hope all is well, Linda...My tought

    1. Woah...the iPad is faster than I am! I was still completing my thoughts, but it was ready to send! Anyway, what I was in the midst of trying to say, is that my thoughts are with you...

  8. Hmm - I loved the idea of flying away - made me think of Alexander in the No Good Very Bad Day. I love the rhythm. Sometimes - flying away to Mars sounds really appealling.
