A Hope of A Celebration

Thanks To Ruth Ayres, we have Celebration Saturday! Tweet at CelebrateLu  Link up here!

It was a week of celebrations and a week of worry this time. I hope I can find time to read and comment tomorrow, but I still have my company, daughter and family, and am preparing for an unexpected trip. My grandson in Texas had a bad accident in his final baseball game. He missed catching a fly ball, and it hit his left eye. He just came home from the hospital Thursday, and the ongoing concern may mean surgery. Like any injury to a growing child, the worry is how future growth might affect the injured muscle, etc.  So, as you might imagine, with both parents working, it's tough. I'm going to go and help this coming week, starting Tuesday. I celebrate that the injury wasn't even more serious, and that I'm finished with school! Whew, life throws a metaphorical curve ball sometimes, but this time it really was one!
Continuation of our 8th graders happened Wednesday. For many
years, I've been in awe of how wonderful the ceremony is. The
pennants are designed by the students, and created by parent volunteers.
Those on a black backdrop are for the current class.

It's been a joy having my daughter, son-in-law, and two
granddaughters stay. They're still here, and will be past
the time I leave next week. As we all know, renovations
follow their own timetable. Here they are playing soccer
with their Papa.

Peonies at last.

It has been worth the wait for spring, and now summer. Every
flower is late blooming, yet they seem more beautiful than
ever. I can't get enough of looking at them!

Finally, I celebrate my school and my colleagues. We ended the year with inspiration from and gratitude for each other. We take away much hope for the next year together. Best to everyone for a great week next week, wherever you are!

  4. Those flowers are striking! I wonder if we are more appreciative of all the plant life after such a long wait for it.

I am hoping for all good news about your grandson. I know he will be in good hands with you there to help out. What a scare! I certainly hope he has no lasting physical concerns as a result, but I also hope this does not affect his game mentally--I would think a fly ball might seem like more of a threat after this. I am sure your presence will help with all sorts of healing!

I love that your 8th grade ceremony is called "continuation" instead of "graduation." Your school just seems to get so much right when it comes to educating children.

I'm so sorry about your grandson. I hope he is fixed up and back in the field very soon. Safe travels and keep us updated. I think about you every day even though I've been a blogger slacker.

  6. Saying prayers for your grandson. Eyes and heads are such sensitive areas. I know they will appreciate your help next week. Your blooming flowers are gorgeous! After the cold, the flowers that come from bulbs seem to be especially happy this year.

  7. I'm glad you can appreciate the literal and metaphorical happenings of life! I haven't heard of "continuation" used for "graduation" so that's interesting. Have a great week!

  8. Saying prayers for a speedy and complete recovery. I always worry about those missed balls....my husband, who still plays softball each week, has stopped telling me of the ones that just missed. I really do NOT want to know!

  15. So sorry to read about your grandson! It really is a blessing that you can go help out. My mom retired from teaching last year and moved down the block from us and wow, has that improved our quality of life having grandma nearby! LOVE the photos of your garden! It really inspires me. Everything has been very late blooming here too. I still have a few daffodils blooming, which is unbelievable.
