Celebrating The Days

I haven't written for two weeks about celebrating those little things that mean so much. I was busy doing little things. It's nearly time to return to work, and once I start, that will be celebrated, too. I've been into school once and will go again on Sunday to finalize all the plans.
My days have encompassed celebrating: Christmas with family, eating with family, shopping with family, greeting the new year with family. I've read favorite Christmas books, and other books that caught me unaware they were so good. I've cooked a little, mostly stew and pie, and eaten a lot, and  I've chosen my ONE LITTLE WORD, to share later. I've bundled up in below zero weather, watched snow from home without needing to go out, and written more than one poem. It's been a superb break of days that are different from the usual, and I think that's the best thing to celebrate, new/different/diverse/unusual. The past days' memories will linger as I leap  into the usual routine, and that too is good. Am I celebrating life? Yes, I suppose I am.
Happy New Year Everyone!

Christmas! Carter is wonderful to take on these girls! They received Anna and Elsa
costumes for Christmas.

Ingrid, Carter and I tried out a new ice cream shop I discovered. Yum!

Christmas Eve at Sarah's.

Nathan, Barb, Carter and I saw the Cartier exhibit
at the Denver Art Museum-shadows I liked, and reflections.

Outside the museum, snow on the black sculptures was awesome.

We started going to Ikea on New Year's Day because there's almost
none there, hence this photo of many, many empty carts!

at Ikea-ready for lunch!

  1. I love how all of your celebrations are intertwined with family - the most important celebration. Looking forward to reading about your OLW. I am writing about mine on Tuesday SOL. It is raining here so I figured it is a good day to go into school and start preparing for this week. In a way I am ready to go back, but these last two days will be lovely. Happy weekend to you Linda.

    1. Yes, much of my vacation was all family, but my son, daughter-in-law & grandson are back home now, & the daughter's family (here) are busy getting ready for back to work & school. Vacation always seems to fly, doesn't it? Yep, a rainy day at school sounds just right! Happy weekend to you too, Leigh Anne!

    1. Thanks, Jennifer. We laugh on New Year's, but it's such a good time at Ikea when so few are there. And we really don't need anything, but do manage to find a few memorable items! Hope you have a good week back, too!

  10. I can't believe this break is almost over. Today is rainy and quiet, so I cleaned up Christmas which led me to cleaning out two closets. Guess it's time to go back to school.
Looks like you had a great time with family. Is is quiet for you now? Sometimes that empty nest is bittersweet.

    1. It was quiet yesterday, but I took the day to clean a lot, & that helps take time. I am used to them leaving, but yes, still hard. This time I may not see them again till summer. Sarah & family are still here, & that's good. Break went so fast & we did have fun, just as written, doing little things. Thanks, Margaret.

  15. I didn't post last Saturday either. We were off to San Francisco that day and I was without a computer for several days anyway. I appreciated the time to do all of the fun things with family too. I'm glad you had lots of wonderful things to celebrate.

  16. My favorite sentence: "I've bundled up in below zero weather, watched snow from home without needing to go out, and written more than one poem." No matter how much we love our jobs, we need breaks, to be with the family and to be by oneself. Curious to see what your new word is.

  17. Although you have been busy doing little things, there is a peace to these photos that illustrates your ability to be both doing and enjoying the moment at the same time. I so enjoy the photos of family--you are all lucky to have each other.
