That Day Before

I'm slicing with the Two Writing Teachers community. It's always a pleasure to read what everyone writes about their lives.

It's here, almost! And I thought I had many ideas, but sometimes life itself holds the priority in sharing.

I think I'm fairly adept at tech stuff,  know that troubleshooting can be fruitful if I work through everything, research and find patience, I usually can find a fix for the problem. I recently had my internet provider out to bring new equipment for my computer and my television.  It's new, seems a bit faster, and I'm pleased. You hear a "but" coming. Yes! Tonight when I went to print, I find that the printer isn't working. I can't figure it out, maybe I'll try an online chat to get more help. Everything else is working, but this router is not "discovering" my printer.

I know it will eventually work, but I don't want to do it. I'd rather be reading!

I do wish sometimes that I could go back a lot of years and only worry about having a long-enough phone cord so I could walk around while I talk. That phone always worked!

I did find a quote that fits my thinking:
"If you don't get everything you want, think of the things you don't get that you don't want."

                                                                                                              - Oscar Wilde
Wishing everyone a river of words flowing in March!

    1. Thanks, Julieanne. I had a phone like this one sometime in the past. And a few others that seemed so comfortable to hold. I do miss them sometimes, and their ease!

  2. I have a phone like your yellow one in my classroom. The students get a kick out of it and how there is an actual bell inside. Those were the days!

    1. I imagine they do find it hilarious, Margaret. It's like one we had in the past, no more of course, and no worrying about how long the line will go! Thanks!

    1. I did solve it this am, Ramona! I had it plugged into the incorrect place in my wireless set-up. I tried several configurations and it's working! Thanks, we'll all need that "river of words".

  4. Computers and technology - love them and dislike them. Try unplugging the printer from the wall and connection. If that doesn't work uninstall the printer and reinstall it. Good luck! Looking forward to sharing this March journey with you once again.

    1. Thanks,Judy, your ideas are good & I tried them yesterday, but as you can read above, plugging into the "correct" device so the modem/router could "read" it is what worked. As I said, I learn all the time, but I don't necessarily want to in this regard. Yes, here we go again, & those grand-girls are getting older!

  5. I would actually love to have an old phone like that! We have an antique table in our hallway which would be perfect for an antique phone! I love you wish - a river of words flowing this month. I would be happy with just a trickle! :)

    1. Once in a while I see those little alcoves that were meant for phones, Leigh Anne. Sounds like your table. I imagine you can find a phone on one of the antique sites, don't you? Thanks, wishing you more than a trickle!

  6. I agree with you--sometimes an old phone with a long cord would be awesome. BUT, without my tech, I wouldn't have my blogging friends like you! See you tomorrow!

    1. I know, you're right, Deb. I wouldn't have you and all the others we've been blogging with! It's just the tech repair that gets to me sometimes! Thanks!

  7. Hope you get the problem fixed. This made me think. We just bought Kathy a new computer at Staples. They are transferring her files and telling it what kind of printer we have. Hope that when we bring it home computer and printer talk to each other. If not, it could lead to a post during March. :-)

    1. There is always that "need" of the talking between the devices. Makes me laugh a little that we're saying that, but this is our world. Yes, I got it fixed! Enjoy that new computer!

  9. All our gadgets are a blessing and a curse. I miss those old phones because I could hold the receiver against my shoulder while I did the dishes. Glad to hear your printer's working. Looking forward to a month filled to the brim with writing!

    1. Oh my, Catherine. I nearly wrote about how easy it was to hold the phone against the shoulder and talk. I have a hard time doing that with my iPhone. Laughing. . . And I'm looking forward to it, too!

  10. The Wilde quote plus this line ("I do wish sometimes that I could go back a lot of years and only worry about having a long-enough phone cord so I could walk around while I talk.") together made me smile and remember. Thanks for sharing, Linda.

    1. Happy you remember, too, Brian. There were so many ways we tried to have privacy when on the phone! Have fun this month!
