Perhaps someone has written about this topic, I'm not sure. I was playing around with what to share today and thought I would see what I could brainstorm about "slices".
I'll draw for my giveaway last Wednesday later in the day and notify the winner!

Elsie adds: a slice in golf!

One word and you created an unexpected poem. Your creativity is endless.
ReplyDeleteHa! Sort of a poem, but thanks, Terje. It was fun to do a little research!
DeleteSlices aren't always eaten,
ReplyDeletethey are nibbled,
chewed, discussed,
enjoyed, often with a side
of surprise, joy, and possibly
sadness and surely, compassion.
We train our microscope towards
a single small moment
in hopes it transforms into
a telescope of the larger human experience.
Go on, then.
Nibble away.

Kevin, it's a joy to be greeted with a poem. This should enter the 'slicing' archives! Thank you!
DeleteWhat a creative slice! I love all the slice variety!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Erika. It is interesting to see everyone's creations.
DeleteIs it any wonder English is so difficult to learn? Look at all the ways one word can be used. I think there might be a slice in golf too. My favorite slice has to be coconut cream pie after a slice of pizza.
ReplyDeleteYes! Thank you, I will add it, Elsie! I love a slice of pizza too, but key lime pie is my favorite!
DeleteHoly cow! For someone who is getting thin on slices, you have managed to capture an awful lot! This is a really clever post!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Carol, fun to do something a bit different!
DeleteThis is wonderful, Linda. a slice about slices--wish I had thought of that!
ReplyDeleteThanks, it came about because I was looking up another word, then thought I might find something interesting for "slice".
DeleteThis was so creative! I love it!
ReplyDelete"Mighty oaks from little acorns grow."
ReplyDeleteMighty slice from little words grow.
What a great idea for a slice.
Love having another "slice" of a saying shared, Bob. Thank you!
DeleteWhat a great idea, Linda! You sent me scurrying to my quotes notebook, and this is what I found:
ReplyDelete"I am not interested in slice of life, what I want is a slice of the imagination." Carlos Fuentes
Your SOL today definitely fits the bill!
Hurrah, and thank you! Will add it!
DeleteLinda this was a great slice today! I love the way it forms a bit of a poem. Slice is Slice is also a line of fruit-flavored soft drinks ( not sure if it is still made)
ReplyDeleteNow you have me wondering about words - love it!
You're right, I vaguely remember it, Joanne. I'll look!
DeleteWhat fun Linda! All of the slice sayings certainly are in our heads this month.
ReplyDeleteI think so! It's a perfect metaphor, isn't it? Thanks, Carrie.
DeleteI love it! A thin slice of moon ma appear in the sky as well.
ReplyDeleteTerrific! Thanks, Wendy!
DeleteThanks for a fun and creative look at what each of us are doing this week. This saying certainly doesn't apply to what we've got going on with the SOLSC, but I can't help but think of the ol' "No matter how you slice it, it's still baloney!" Thanks for a fun post.
ReplyDeleteYes, I love that one, too, applies to a few things going on! Thanks, Tim!
DeleteThis is great fun! Love this saying, "no matter how thin you slice it, it's still baloney"...you have me racking my brain for another use of slice - but to no avail! You have it covered! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteBe sure to let us know if you think of one, Maureen. Thanks!
DeleteWow....you just expanded my view of one little word. It carries much for a word that can mean only a portion, but the size may vary. This was a fun, playful post. My mind is furiously working but coming up empty.
ReplyDeleteYou can always add if you wish! Thanks, Barbara. I guess many words can open up in meanings, even in different parts of the country, or the world.
DeleteLove it!!
ReplyDeleteDon't forget slice of watermelon. One of the fun memories of childhood- a big slice of watermelon, cut from a long oval watermelon, filled with seeds for spitting at brothers! Took two hands to hold, left juice dripping from your chin and your hands, such a treat on a muggy summer day.
Yes, that is almost an American "thing", isn't it, Diane. Thanks!
DeleteLove all the angles of your writing on "slice." I've been looking at poetry for April and spring, so I recently read Robert Frost's "Blue-Butterfly Day." The last line: "Where wheels have freshly sliced the April mire."
ReplyDeleteAlice, that gives me shivers, to read the poem and shortly after read my call for "slice" in different places all at the same day! Amazing! Thank you!
DeleteThis is great!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Erin!
DeleteThis morning, I wrote about lifting lines from SOL posts for poems. Thank you for inspiring some poetry. I hope I did your words justice.

Thanks, Kevin, I love what you did with mine, and all the others too.
DeleteI've fallen a bit behind, but love this slice about slices. Your ruminations reminded me of a slice I want to write about words. With only three days left, ideas flood my mind!
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean, and now you've given me that awesome poetry download. Will take a look later this morning! Thanks, Ramona, April is coming, too!
