Celebrating Family

Celebrating with Ruth Ayres and others today. Come visit to see how wonderful it is to celebrate all the delights of the week!

I am currently reading Alan Gratz' Refugee and am struck by several common themes within the stories of the three children, but one that I am celebrating today is family ties. No matter the crisis, each child stands firm with family, is supported by family. And now today with hurricane Harvey bringing destruction, I see again people saying only that being safe as a family is most important. I am grateful for my life with little danger but am also aware that I am fortunate, need to help however I am able and need to keep informed of the wider world in which I live. Along with my own life events, I celebrate family love that I read about everywhere, in the best and worst of circumstances.  My time in Missouri with my brother and sister-in-law and niece was a special time we will remember.  I don't have a picture, but also had a nice visit with my nephew who just started his first year as assistant principal of a high school. Wow, what a challenge! We were so glad to see him and hear about his first week!
The beginning of our fabulous time at The City Museum
in St. Louis. What a fantastic visit. If you can get there, go!
Yes, as I wrote in my last post here, the grand-girls had their
lemonade stand on eclipse day!

We had a picnic at a nearby winery by the Missouri River,
so beautiful!

My brother and I at the winery.
Watching the eclipse, amazing!

On the way to my brother's after the eclipse,
he stopped so Ingrid could get close to
the river. We saw frogs and so many
damselflies, another special time.

Final picture, saying goodbyes and thank yous.
We feel so lucky to have such a loving family.

    1. Thanks, Lisa. I hope you enjoy Refugee, but it saddens me about the plight that has happened and is now still happening.

  3. Love this roundup of a wonderful trip to Missouri. I'm still hoping to get my grand boys to OK and KS one of these days. It's tough to be so far away from extended family, but a pleasure to visit. I love that your brother stopped for that visit to the river. And so many fun pics, love the one of you with the girls on eclipse day and the pic of you and your brother.

  4. Linda, I got Refugee on Audible and had to quit. I couldn't take the graphic descriptions of suffering. Tell me it gets better and more hopeful and maybe I'll try again. Love your pictures and how your family gathers and supports you. Such a blessing.

  7. I love all of your posts, Linda, but most especially your posts about family. I think family 'eclipse' all else in life. (See what I did there? ;) We didn't get to experience the eclipse here in Switzerland, but my older daughter still living in Tucson sent lots of pictures. Almost like being there... Thanks for sharing your family experience. =)
