#NPM18 2/30 - Growing Poems

April is  #NPM18 - National Poetry Month.
"Poetry is just the evidence of life. If your life is burning well, poetry is just the ash."
                                                                                                                      ~Leonard Cohen

Of interest:  See the page on the bar above for the Progressive Poem's schedule of poets, hosted by Irene Latham at Live Your Poem.

And, see what many are doing for Poetry Month, by looking HERE at Jama Rattigan's post at Jama's Alphabet Soup.

My goal for Poetry MonthA haiku diary that may include other forms related to haiku, like haibun, haiga. monoku or renga. I have enjoyed studying about and writing in these forms in past Aprils and alongside other's who've given a challenge in this form. And, I look forward to seeing what parts of this month I will choose to collect in a diary. I will also be connecting with others, writing for their challenges, too, along with other kinds of blog posts.

    1. That's what they're doing when they rub their legs together! (Research!) Thanks, Jane!

  3. Those flies....they do mean it is warmer. And such a detail, who would ever think to write about a fly rubbing its legs. Bravo, Linda.

    1. We have such warmth, but could also have a big snow storm this month. Yes, April is cruel and in its beauty, too. Hope your cold disappears fast, Elaine! Thanks!

  6. I like the juxtaposition of the sunny weather and the fly--surprising! We are due for spring cleaning around here. Fortunately, no flies yet. It's too cold!

    1. We've had such amazingly warm weather that the insects are appearing. I sat out yesterday & did watch a fly doing its cleaning. Thanks, JoAnn!

  7. What a wonderful image of a fly, which I typically think of as dirty but that you've juxtaposed w/ an image of tidying up.

Thank you for the list of poem forms. I need to try these.

    1. Thanks for coming by, Glenda. I did learn that the fly really is cleaning when rubbing its legs together. And yes, they do like to "settle" into disgusting things.

  8. Love what your research revealed. There are many of us who will look at a fly a bit differently after reading your haiku.

    1. I thought that leg rubbing was the sounds, but that 'buzz' is the wings. Research is always interesting! Thanks, Ramona.

  10. I discovered a fly the other day. I wish they would do my spring cleaning for me!
Here is my poem for the day.
