April - Poetry Month - Day Five - Bunny Hiding

It's April, Poetry Month, Day Five - Bunny Hiding!

The bookmark, on top of the picture above, came into the bookstore at the end of March. Often people do donate books and leave 'treasures' in them. This time, it became my own treasure and I knew what I would do for April's poetry, write about found treasures, perhaps find new places to look? Happy April!

Plus! Check each day for the added line to the Progressive Poem, created by Irene Latham, now hosted by Margaret Simon! The link is to the right!

Hiding in Plain Sight

Outside on Monday

sitting, watching,

kids at play,

on the last vacation day.

I spied a twitch,

(perhaps an itch)

while looking long within the green.

Bunny thinks he isn’t seen,

gathering warmth

in sunshine rays.

He rose a bit,

dug down some more.

He’s now ready

to snore,

                and snore,

                                                                                                              some more.

Here's a later view. He moved over and stayed a couple of hours, all sunshine!

    1. Thanks, Jane. He didn't seem to mind my being close at all. I think he was glad to be out of his burrow!

  2. Charming! Reminds me of the cat in his patch of sun at the back door...when we have any sun in grey Ohio!

    1. He came back again today, though it is cloudy, seems to have claimed that as "his" spot. Thanks, Mary Lee, wishing you some sun!

    1. Sure, Carol. My grandgirls are coming over today after school, so hope they'll get to meet him, too. Thank you!
