My Pleasure -

It's Poetry Friday, and Jan Godown Annino is hosting HERE on her website,  Bookseedstudio She's hosting with a "Love Day 2026" post!

Thanks bringing the love to us, Jan!

I'm sure most of you are watching the news, then shouting out and cringing at what it brings to us, nearly by the hour, and in reality, every day. I watch, or listen. I know I need to keep informed, to learn more ways to act! Yet, having a break is helpful. It's good to put other things on my mind. As some of you share, you go outside. Even around the block is helpful. When I visit the cemetery where my husband is, I talk with him, missing him, telling what's happening in my life, the one he left, the one where changes are happening, grandchildren growing up, and on.

On the edges surrounding this lovely place are wooded areas where I walk, looking and listening, feeling they are there just for me! The other day I heard a rustling, saw what I thought was a couple of birds hopping around. I could see movement, but little else showed in the shadows and tangles that the trees and downed limbs made.

Nature’s tangles bring shelter.

Small creatures find homes.

People create stories

as imaginations roam.

  1. Happy New Year,Linda! I appreciate your tangles of branches and the idea and truth that our best ideas and inspiration live in those small things that bring meaning and nature.

  2. Ah to be lost in nature’s tangles, where thought carries one away even momentarily… Thanks for your lovely poem Linda and transporting us, I hope Nature continues to nurture you, xox.

  3. Thanks, Janice & Michelle, for your kind words. The temperature dropped to the 20's last night so I may not get out for a long walk today!

  5. Birds do enjoy a tangle, don't they? It may not look like much to us, but it's home to them. Glad you have somewhere to recharge and regroup. xo

  6. Happy that nature is an inspiration and a comfort to you. I feel the same way when I visit my mother's grave which backs up to the woods.

  7. Thanks, Tabatha & Cathy. I've been working on a tech problem for a long time. It's not fixed, yet, but I want to read PF posts, will get back to it later. Yes, being outside makes my days brighter every time!

  8. I too find solace and comfort in the natural world. Sometimes finding hope is more challenging.

  10. Linda, yes indeed changes are happening in this world. Each day the news seems to bring sadness so I am happy that there is always a positive piece at the end of David Muir's World News. My foot specialist gave me a reprive by removing the stabilizing book and adding a lighter device with the gift of walking outside one again. The only glitch is that the weather is so-o-o cold. May your insights into life continue to offer your readers (especially me) joy, comfort, and imagination for roaming through nature.

  13. Linda, I appreciate your sharing about your special visit to your wonderful hubby & the stark but beautiful look & sounds of Nature nearby. This: " feeling they are there just for me" gave me the best chills. It's poetry. Lovely photograph & idea of the hidden creatures. They see us always, but we often can't see them. This post is a sweet respite we need. xo your fan, jan
