Celebrate - Week Peek

Every Saturday (or Sunday) I celebrate with Ruth Ayres at Discover Play Build.  and link with others who share their celebrations, too. Ruth has made it a wonderful weekend of sharing what we are grateful for in the past week. It's also April, Poetry Month, and I'm trying to write a poem when I can, probably not every day this month, but some days when it feels right. I might visit other challenges too, and share a favorite poetry book. I want to enjoy and celebrate as much as possible.

It's been quite an interesting few weeks. This past one was spring break for my granddaughters and they spent all Monday with me which I wrote about earlier in the week. My daughter broke her leg two weeks ago while grabbing at Imogene who was skiing too fast, and toward trees. Luckily, Imi is okay, and Sarah's leg has a small break and the ACL a small tear, which means no surgery, but a brace for  a long time while she heals. She is feeling better, but can't drive. This leads me to my celebration - really! She is back to work some, and took Friday off so we could spend the day together with the girls, shopping a little, eating lunch out, and taking time for a playground for the girls while we sat in the sun on a bench and visited, something to savor, no hurry. Here are pictures and Poem # 2 for Poetry Month.

Week Peek

ready, step
up, down
hug Momma
clown around

bird, sky
swing, sway
girls run,
good day

words paint
time spent
now I’m
content

Don't be alarmed. The background is a huge mural (not a huge bed)
advertising a furniture store.

I need to explain. While Momma shopped, nearby was one of the escalators.
We rode up and down more than once. Here are the girls, silly they are, lifting
legs, getting ready to jump off at the bottom. They did this every time,
giggling all the way.

  1. Now that's what I call fun (oh, but not the accident). I do hope all heals quickly. I love those girls of yours. I wish I could meet them in person. Happy Writing. The gallery is done now except the video for the photo corner is still loading. The photos are great from around the world. Now I will have to wait until tomorrow to send it out.

    1. Thanks, Carol, and congratulations to you for completing your gallery. Can't wait to see it! The weatherman reminded us that we could still have snow in April, and I don't think he was April fooling! But warm weather is going to be here this week anyway! Have a lovely weekend!

  2. Oh, your poor daughter! Glad her break is not too bad, but it's a nuisance nonetheless. How wonderful that you could spend the day together with the girls though. Taking my kids to the park when they were younger is one of my favorite memories.

    1. Yes, all is a blessing, but not easy. The park is a wonder, and there are so many that we keep finding new ones to explore. Thanks, Jennifer. Happy weekend!

  5. Oh, I was glad to hear that your daughter will not need surgery. These are great moments to savor indeed. (I like to have a little fun on the escalator too!) I love looking at your Colorado pictures! Thank you for sharing.

    1. Thanks, Kendra, the escalator amusement was worth having. It is those "free" things that are overlooked sometimes. The girls were thrilled to go up and down so many times.

  6. I love the two words per line poem.
I can't wait to share it with my 3rd graders.
Great example that lots can be said with just a few words!

  7. Love the poem, love the photos, too. The escalator reminds me of a long ago trip with my cousins to the "big" city of Dayton, Ohio, where we went to a department store and the highlight was riding the escalator- up, down- just like your poem and the photo. Glad to hear no surgery, hope the recovery is smooth.

    1. Thank you. Escalators are big deals for little children, or for those who've never seen them. They are rather miraculous! Fun times!

  8. Action and pauses balancing the day. Great to see your daughter smiling, even though the unexpected leg injury turned her plans upside down.

    1. Yes, it was nice. I know what you mean a little, miss the "other" kids so far away. I am going to see them this following weekend!

    1. Thank you Carol. She (we) are all so happy that healing will happen without surgery. I enjoyed doing the poem, haven't done many like that. Glad you had a trip to see your granddaughter!

  11. The escalator adventures sound so fun. Can you think of a picture book about escalator adventures? If there isn't one, there should be. I love the poem - especially "words paint."

    1. Hm-what a great idea, Crystal. They certainly had many ideas of what to "do" on the escalator! Thank you!

  12. Love your Week Peek poem! Such a fun day with Sarah and the girls. Good news for Sarah (even though wearing the boot will be a trial). As always, I love your pics.
