Celebrating with Ruth Ayres at Discover Play Build. and connecting with others who share their celebrations, too. It's a joy to read everyone's words of celebration. I planned to write last Sunday (my first day at home) about our family trip to Captiva, but I rose on Sunday to the anguish of Orlando. I didn't write this week except posting book reviews until Friday brought a gift from a friend, and I realized that more than ever we must hold dear the ordinary things that make our lives extraordinary. Here are pictures from our wonderful time together. The days filled with sand and sea, storms and play, loving family.

It was a great time, Jennifer. Yes, Carter has shot up to almost taller than his dad. He's evidently going to be an early grower, will be 15 in August! He ate a lot! You've been there with your teens I'm sure! Thank you!

Linda, if we do not savor and linger in the ordinary moments with family we miss the delights of life. I am so glad that your family vacation proved to be restful and full of happy moments. I love your photos and will capture a few for the summer gallery.

Thank you for sharing such beautiful pictures of those precious moments. Last weekend was a tough one. I am so weary of the violence and hatred and I feel helpless to change things. So yes, we have to celebrate the beauty in our lives or we can get plowed under by the sadness.
