Poetry Friday - A Mighty Gift!

       It's Poetry Friday, and Tricia Stohr-Hunt is hosting on her website here!  She's sharing this month's poetry sisters' challenge, offering a taste of summer - delicious!

          Thanks for hosting, Tricia!

       I wakened to a sound yesterday morning that I haven't heard in a long time! Nearly every day, the sun is covered, but none of those clouds have brought rain. This time differed, a lot!
       I do realize that many of you have had an abundance of rain and wish it would stop. Would that we all had some moderation, right?

Gifting

Clouds crowd the sun
out of the picture.
They leak into the evening.
I wouldn’t call it rain.

Waking, not sure what to blame,
Tapping, tapping at windowpane.
Not just sprinkles, real downpour;
I simply pray for more and more.

  5. Fingers crossed and prayers ascending for the tapping tapping on our windowpanes this weekend. It's been gloriously overcast all day, and snow is forecast for the highest peaks in the Sierras, so there's potential...!

  6. I recall reading a book called, Raindance where day after a family living through a prolonged drought felt taunted by the clouds that built up each day but failed to deliver rain. Eventually a child's raindance brought about welcome showers. Your poem possesses the same inbuilt qualities, Linda. You have gently captured the build up and the eventual delivery of welocme rain. Dusty umbrellas by gone!

  7. Linda,I am glad that Colorado finally got the rain you deserve. The rain that comes here makes the sky gray and the house to cool but I try to remember that my plants do need to gather the rain.Actually, the rain and sun have been busy making my flowers pop. Have a good rest of June with plenty of water.

  8. I'm so glad you got much-needed rain! I love the characterization of those days when it just-won't-quite-rain as "leaking." That's now entered my rain vocabulary and weather-forecast-speak. ("It's just going to leak today.") :D
