Weaving Update - A Bit of An Argh-h!

Thanks to Anna, Beth, Dana, Tara, Stacey & Betsy, we have the fun of writing every day for the Slice of Life Challenge at the blog, Two Writing Teachers.
Tweet at #SOL14.
"We sleep, but the loom of life never stops. And the pattern which was weaving when the sun went down, is there when we wake up in the morning." Henry Ward Beecher

I started my weaving project last week. I'll show you pictures in a while, but first let me speak for my students, or ALL students. It is hard to learn something new! How many time do you say "Go read the directions, then see if you understand. Come back if you have questions."

I read the directions, often. I took notes, many. I watched Youtube, for various things, but mostly how to warp a loom. Some of you will understand and others of you are already mystified.

8/31 - Celebrate the Week!

Slice of Life - Day Eight
Discover. Play. Build.
Celebrating the week with Ruth at Discover, Play, Build, and slicing on Day Eight with Tara, Stacey, Anna, Beth, Dana and Betsy at Two Writing Teachers wraps up like a pretty package!
From Robert Brault: "Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things."

7/31 Slice and Poetry Friday, too!

Hi Everyone, a shared post again. It's Poetry Friday and Margaret Simon of ReflectionsOnTheTeche is hosting today. She and I, and other marvelous poets have been writing poems to Laura Shovan's Pantone Poetry birthday celebration for the past month. She shares the finale poems and the total collection at her blog, Author Amok. It's been a treasure of a time.

And, it's DAY SEVEN of the Slice of Life Challenge at Two Writing Teachers!  Over 300 are slicing each day, including students. We've now completed the first week! Time for big pats on the back!
So many have had a tough winter, and more seems to be on its way again, so I thought it would be good to try to express the general sentiment at this time about winter. Here's a picture of hope from my garden, and a poem.
Before Spring

I want
I want
more warmth than a hot bath
gives me,
more color than seed catalogs
show me,
more light than Edison invented
for me.
         I want spring!

I want
I want
fewer clothes than Winter
allows me,
fewer curtains keeping nature
from me,
fewer colds requiring tissues
around me.
         I want spring!

6/31 A Recent Passion Keeps Me Watching For More

Thanks to everyone at Two Writing Teachers for the Slice of Life Challenge.
Hope you are having a good week so far!

Since I've been writing for the Slice of Life these past years, and blogging in other ways, too, I find that I notice so many things. I see interesting shadows, and watch for animal tracks in the snow, listen for interesting sounds, watch for juicy words, and so on. One of the recent things I've been doing is watching the sky. When I drive to and from work the sky opens up and I can see in all directions.
When I'm looking, mostly I watch the west because that's where the mountains are, and interesting clouds appear that direction, something about the way the air slides down through the foothills. Often, the weather in the mountains is so different from ours here on the flat.

5/31 My Slice of Life every Monday

Thanks to those at the TwoWritingTeachers blog for this challenge.

For those of you who’ve followed my blog for a long while, you know that my husband spent the last years of his life in a nursing home with Lewy Body Dementia and Parkinson’s disease.  It’s been six months since we said goodbye to him, and I miss him every day. This post is not exactly about him, but about the wonderful place where he stayed, my slice of life on Mondays. It isn’t a fancy place, but oh, the care and love he was given there, and that I received from the staff as well was awesome.   A couple of months ago I began volunteering in the part of the home where he lived.
