When I read Mary Lee Hahn's challenge to write a haiku each day in December with the hashtag #haikuforhealing, I thought 'no way' do I have time for that, although I loved the idea that it might help in this chaotic time we are experiencing. Then I thought, 'Well, maybe sometimes?' Finally, I read Catherine Flynn's post about #commonplacemarvels and I was hooked. Except for Dec. 1st, I've shared every day. I find myself looking for a subject all through the days as I do all those other things expected in December. It's rather calming to be on the search. I am grateful, Mary Lee and Catherine!
Here is mine for today, actually a haiga because I'm pairing it with a photo.

Thank you, the sun is out & it's warmer this day from that high of about 11 yesterday. Perhaps warmth will be next?
Sometimes I just sit and think about how the concerns of animals are so much more basic than ours. Their lives are so "moment to moment"- no thinking ahead of themselves to what "might be".
Enjoy these "moments" in the sun! Try not to "think ahead" to what the weather "might be" soon!
Lovely image and words, Linda! It's been a hectic week, so I've fallen behind. I play with words and images as I drive to work, then rush inside to write my ideas down before they melt away. I've enjoyed reading and being inspired by everyone else's noticings, and will be back next week!
That weather is not something I do worry about anymore except when it gets so cold I do worry about our homeless population. The animals certainly do take advantage of whatever they find, hence this bird that comes often to my little birdbath. Learned habit for need? I know you see more animals than I do, Donna. Three little lines say so much about a huge topic. They remind me to think of other creatures who need water for survival, too. I love the idea of this bird returning each day for a sip/ so dependent on humans to fill that bowl in a time of drought. Your Haiga is a wake up call for humanity. Well done!

It was so cold yesterday and when I went to get the paper, bunnies were hopping all around, to keep warm? or were they just happy to get out of that burrow? Yes, I try to put peanuts and seed out, but that birdbath seems to be the most popular thing. Except for a bit of snow, it is very dry. Thanks, Joyce.

I love having the #commonplacemarvels alongside #haikuforhealing. Sometimes my healing haiku are vents of steam. The marvels calm me down and heal me with gratitude.
