Like A Daily Walk

It's Poetry Friday, this week hosted by Jone MacCulloch who blogs at Check It Out! She's sharing about sending Poetry Postcards and offering great "how-tos" as well. I especially like the words about resolutions. Thanks, Jone!

When I read Mary Lee Hahn's challenge to write a haiku each day in December with the hashtag #haikuforhealing, I thought 'no way' do I have time for that, although I loved the idea that it might help in this chaotic time we are experiencing. Then I thought, 'Well, maybe sometimes?' Finally, I read Catherine Flynn's post about #commonplacemarvels and I was hooked. Except for Dec. 1st,  I've shared every day. I find myself looking for a subject all through the days as I do all those other things expected in December.  It's rather calming to be on the search. I am grateful, Mary Lee and Catherine!

Here is mine for today, actually a haiga because I'm pairing it with a photo.

  4. Love your page masthead Japanese proverb: "One kind word can warm three winter months." So apropos at this time. Enjoyed your haiku and birdbath.

    1. Thank you, the sun is out & it's warmer this day from that high of about 11 yesterday. Perhaps warmth will be next?

  7. Sometimes I just sit and think about how the concerns of animals are so much more basic than ours. Their lives are so "moment to moment"- no thinking ahead of themselves to what "might be".
Enjoy these "moments" in the sun! Try not to "think ahead" to what the weather "might be" soon!

    1. That weather is not something I do worry about anymore except when it gets so cold I do worry about our homeless population. The animals certainly do take advantage of whatever they find, hence this bird that comes often to my little birdbath. Learned habit for need? I know you see more animals than I do, Donna. Thanks for the thought!

  8. Lovely image and words, Linda! It's been a hectic week, so I've fallen behind. I play with words and images as I drive to work, then rush inside to write my ideas down before they melt away. I've enjoyed reading and being inspired by everyone else's noticings, and will be back next week!

    1. I understand, remember how crazy this time of year was when I worked full time, Catherine. It's okay, time for when it's right for you! Thanks!

  9. Three little lines say so much about a huge topic. They remind me to think of other creatures who need water for survival, too. I love the idea of this bird returning each day for a sip/ so dependent on humans to fill that bowl in a time of drought. Your Haiga is a wake up call for humanity. Well done!

    1. It was so cold yesterday and when I went to get the paper, bunnies were hopping all around, to keep warm? or were they just happy to get out of that burrow? Yes, I try to put peanuts and seed out, but that birdbath seems to be the most popular thing. Except for a bit of snow, it is very dry. Thanks, Joyce.

  11. I couldn't agree with you more....I look for ideas throughout the day. And, instead of feeling any pressure to find something, I'm delighted when the idea finds me. It's been wonderfully habit building and positive. I love your haiga....delightful. Enjoy the holidays!
