April Poetry Month - 2021 - Day Twelve - Waterfall

It's April. It's Poetry Month!

Remember to check out the list of what everyone is doing at Susan Bruck's blog: Soul Blossom Living!
Plus! Check each day for the added line to the Progressive Poem, created by Irene Latham, now hosted by Margaret Simon! The link is to the right!

My Plan: “I’m exploring the aesthetic of wabi-sabi, sometimes described as one that is “imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete” in nature. I think walking out in nature this past year gave me the joy needed to keep going, so I’ve gathered photos taken since March 2020 for inspiration in composing haigas, sometimes other forms.”

water rushing,

a swim only in my mind –

splash upon splash

  1. Oh, to go swimming "splash upon splash." Just the thought has brightened a dreary day!

  2. I love how you relate swimming to poetry! Swim on Wabi-Sabier!

  3. Thanks, Catherine and Michelle, dreaming of the pools (closed) & the beach (trip canceled) was what I thought of every time I went by this little waterfall. Maybe this summer?

  4. The water is dancing down, "splash upon splash!"

  5. I think I can hear the splash upon splash.

  6. Like you, I am dreaming of pools and beaches, really water of any kind. I love "splash upon splash!"

  7. I grew up by the water on Long Island both the Sound and the ocean. But I also loved the wonderful flow of water we would encounter when hiking. One summer we were in NW Conn. and knew a spot to picnic on our day off from our summer camp jobs. It had been a wet winter and the "stream" that ran downhill was rushing. The white water, the trees in their full green happiness, the sunny spots and the sound, that sound.....has stayed with me for always (this was mid 1970s). It is a meditation. Splash upon splash. And breathtaking whether a small or large waterfall. Let's dance in the joy of your poem and photo!! Janet F.
