Poetry Friday - What I Learned

It's Poetry Friday, and Ruth is hosting HERE on her website,  There Is No Such Thing As A Godforsaken Town She's sharing a poem that seems as if it's for our Colorado wintry day, the first after multiple warm days, breaking records! It feels just right, so be sure to read her post!

            Thanks for hosting, Ruth!

The Pleiades

      What I Learned Growing Up

Sometimes I would climb out a window

Onto the roof to watch the stars.

My grandfather taught me not to be afraid –

To look for goodness no matter when or where.

It waited to be found.

Linda, your post goes well with Karen's. Finding goodness and comfort outdoors. Bravery. Yes, say her name.

Thanks, Tabatha, it is so important that we do all possible to keep the truth ahead of the lies.

Wise words. Let's say her name to the stars, the leaves, the rocks and the trees. And let's shout her name in the streets as we work toward the justice she (and so many others) deserve.

I am very afraid, especially today, and your poem reminded me that we can always ground ourselves in the stars and when we "look for goodness." Beautiful and timely, Linda. Thank you. I will say her name: Renée Nicole Macklin Good

Look for the helpers, as Mr. Rogers would say. Look for the good, and you'll find it. It's always there, somewhere. <3

Thank you, Linda. I love that you (like Rose) wrote about the stars. Such mystery and awe.

It's a lifelong love, Marcie. You're welcome. This began when the terrible attack on Renee happened & I thought of my grandfather, knew he would both be aggrieved at the act and comfort, too.
