Tuesday - New Point of View?

I'm slicing with the Two Writing Teachers community today. It's always a pleasure to read what everyone writes about their lives.

“We can complain because rose bushes have thorns, or rejoice because thorn bushes have roses.”
― Abraham Lincoln

I've been reading, sharing and writing more than once lately about point of view. It seems important "all" the time, yet especially this election year. But no, this is not about the election, but about my companion this Labor Day weekend. My daughter's family just adopted a new dog from a cattle dog rescue site last week, and they had previously promised to keep a friend's dog, Lloyd, a sweet and older Cardigan Welsh Corgi. It wasn't a good time for them to have another dog while their new one was visiting. (There's a three week trial visit.) So, you know what's coming. I agreed to have Lloyd for the weekend. He is quiet and sweet and I thought it would be nice to see if I'd like another dog in my life. My husband and I had three dogs in our married life: a dalmatian named Sophie, an Old English Sheepdog named Bentley and a poodle/Jack Russell terrier mix named Timmy. All were wonderful dogs, and I'm not even mentioning the dogs my grown children had that we kept on occasion through the years. We also had a cat named Macavity (Max) and for a lot of years I had a horse stabled in the country-Mariah. I love animals, and miss them in my life.

Celebrating Family

This weekend I celebrate with Ruth Ayres at Discover Play Build.  and link with others who share their celebrations, too. I am grateful to Ruth for starting this meme that offers a place to celebrate together!
Also posting today on a blog tour that shares a new book. Be sure to check it out here!

I missed last Saturday because I was celebrating family, a wonderful trip with my daughter and her two daughters, the grand-girls. This is our fourth year visiting my brother in Missouri, and sad to say Carter, my grandson couldn't be there this time. He's in the midst of beginning marching band practice and could not come! We missed him, but had a fabulous time. Pictures tell the story, and I'll share just a few. My brother lives on a small acreage with all the things that children love, places to run and swing and explore.
My cousin night! There's not much more fun
than talking with those who knew you when you
were young! Everyone came, plus a few "extras"!

11/31 Slice of Life - Living the hard moments as well as the good ones

Thanks to everyone who enhances this community by writing for the Slice of Life Challenge at the blog, Two Writing Teachers
Tweet #SOL14

There was another slice, and then this evening my daughter called. One of their cats, their favorite actually, had been hit by a car. Her husband was going to stay with the girls, and would I wait to see what the emergency vet said? Well, you know how this will turn out. Dear LeRoc, sweetest cat even for toddlers, stayed near the girls when babies, seemed to take good care of them always, was too badly injured, and we said goodbye to her a little after ten. Dear pets are not easy to let go, and this "grand-cat" was dear. I have a poem that I love that is about a cat, but really about all of the pets we've had to say goodbye to.

I'd like to share in Le Roc's memory:

My Old Cat by Hal Summers, begins:

      My old cat is dead,
Who would butt me with his head.
       He had the sleekest fur.
       He had the blackest purr.
       Always gentle with us
       Was this black puss,

You can find the rest here.

And here is LeRoc, lounging on the vcr for its warmth, a year or so ago.
