Poetry Friday - Filling A Basket

Thanks to Margaret Simon who is hosting this Poetry Friday, at her blog,  Reflections on the Teche. She's sharing two lovely poems in response to two fabulous prompts! Thanks for hosting, Margaret.
I want to give a shout-out to Irene Latham for her new book, D-39: A Robodog's Journey. I just started reading it and it's going to be hard to pull away to read everyone's posts! Don't miss it!

All this time, the things that kept me going are easy, walking out, the sky and other nature pictures, and talks with friends and family. Of course, tiny things helped, too, but these are the big ones.

"I think you might dispense with half your doctors if you would only consult Doctor Sun more, and be more under the treatment of those great hydropathic doctors, the clouds!" ~Henry Ward Beecher, Royal Truths
           Sky Dreams

I’m filling up my sky basket

with clouds a-drifting by.

I’ll catch the elephants and bears

and wispy veils like sighs,

then fly along the sky trails

meandering up high.

I’ll gather every blue there,

the lavenders and greys,

the azures and the sapphires

on sunny and cloudy days.

I’ll tuck in all the navies

from late-day sunset rays.

Today my basket’s full of blues.

Wishing you some sky dreams, too.

April - Poetry Month - Day Seven - Sky's Always There

It's April. It's Poetry Month!

Remember to check out the list of what everyone is doing at Susan Bruck's blog: Soul Blossom Living!

Plus! Check each day for the added line to the Progressive Poem, created by Irene Latham, now hosted by Margaret Simon! The link is to the right!

           TIME TO CELEBRATE POETRY!

My Plan: “I’m going to explore the aesthetic of wabi-sabi, sometimes described as one that is “imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete” in nature. I think walking out in nature this past year gave me the joy needed to keep going, so I’ve gathered photos taken since March 2020 for inspiration in composing haigas, sometimes other forms.”

walking day or night,

innumerable sky pictures –

comfort food

Celebrating The Day - And Sky

Celebrating today with Ruth Ayres and others who share. I have a favorite thing you may know about, taking pictures of the sky. Most of the time they are of our wonderful Colorado sky which is, even from the city, wide open, sometimes clear and bright blue, sometimes roiling with clouds, though seldom does a drop of rain hit the ground. It is simply too dry. The explanation is that although clouds might hold moisture, drops are absorbed before they hit the ground. It's called "virga".

I was up very early this am because I was going to a party, a much fun gathering of former colleagues, some now out of town, and two families with new babies! Well, older babies really, 7 and 9 months, and they were precious to meet. I celebrate that there is still time to get together and visit, to love on these new ones, and watch them move and crawl, smile and look with wonder. And I was so happy for these new parents. They have a lot of joy to look forward to!
And so, before and after the party, pictures of the one thing that pleases every day.

New Photo Editing-Digilit Sunday

Margaret Simon, of Reflections on The Teche, is trying to encourage people to link up for "Digilit Sunday" to share some things they're doing, or learning how to do, with technology. Thanks, Margaret! Myra Garces-Bacsal of Gathering Books suggested this new online photo editing tool in a comment. I've found it quite easy and fun to use. I've played with types of collages this time, but one can also create cards and use just one photo to edit, enhance with all kinds of different tools. Each time I did this, I discovered new ways to change the borders, new backgrounds, etc. Check out fotor.com for new kinds of creating!
