Celebration Saturday

Thanks to Ruth Ayres, we all have the pleasure of celebrating our past week together. Come read everyone's posts linked up to DiscoverPlayBuild.
Whew-what a week, a pleasure and busy. For a little while, I am subbing for our new teacher, who is also a new father as of Wednesday. It's always something to celebrate when a new baby enters our lives. I'm celebrating new life, and being in the classroom with wonderful middle school students again.
I had three lunch meetings also this week, starting conversations with the Primary, Intermediate and Advanced School teacher groups. We made some goals, and will finally begin talking about best practices in different areas. Exciting.

I met with two enthusiastic, motivated young women who want to start a school newspaper. When I was in the classroom, I did advise a newspaper group for many years, but no one has taken this on since I left. It's going to be fun to start a new group, writing in new ways.
Ingrid, my five year old granddaughter is spending the day with me today, a pre-birthday present My birthday is tomorrow. I know she has plans, but they are secret, and I am told she'll tell me what they are when she arrives. Late this afternoon I get to take her to a classmate's birthday party. I know that parents of young children might tire of so many parties, but it's a treat for me to get to do it once in a while.

Lovely thoughts still linger about my time at the retreat. It truly was a special time. Autumn is becoming prettier and prettier here in Denver, and it's snowing in the mountains. Skiers are happy!
       Have a terrific week everyone!

  15. So glad you're still luxuriating in lovely thoughts from your retreat. Meetings with teachers, back in a middle school classroom - you had a busy week indeed. Those students are lucky to spend some time with you - as is the teacher who knows his students are in good hands! I bet Ingrid had some fun surprises! Happy Birthday!
