Happy Valentine's Day and welcome to Poetry Friday to celebrate our sweetest day where, yes, hearts are everywhere, even in Peeps. I find them all over my home and am happy to share some old-fashioned Valentines given to my mother-in-law years ago.

Happy Valentine's Day! I'm sending you some sugary love (but, eww...heart peeps just don't do it for me). But, the birdie Valentine does...and so does the poem. Valentine's Day is such a sweet holiday that should be filled with love. Your sweetness has filled the page with sweet reminders, Linda. I should take out my collection of antique and vintage valentines. Last week, Sierra and I created paper valentines made out of red heart dollies, just like I did with her Mommy when she was little. Happy Valentine's Day, Linda. I left you a winter haiku at last week's post but it could be meant for Valentine's Day, too.

Those vintage Valentine cards are wonderful. They made me think back to long-ago hand-created Valentine cards. The cards exchanged these days by kids make me sad. There's no thought or effort involved and typically they're so commercial--based on the newest movie or game. I miss the days of doilies and blotchy glue marks (said the old lady). Thanks so much for hosting today and for sharing your delightful Valentine. Love the title!
I have read your poem over and over. I love how thin and yet how full it is all at once. Your hearts are making me think about the beautiful doily heart valentines my mom just made for all of the children she reads to in schools. Love is for sharing, and you share so much of it. There is something about Valentine's Day that makes one think of vintage hearts and poems, so I followed that thread. I love to think of your home strewn with Valentines!

Thanks, Cheriee & Leigh Anne, I had many, given to me a long time ago by my mother-in-law, from her teaching days, & I say 'had' because I've now given them all to my brother for his antique store. Pictures remain. Those old ones are special, I agree.
