I hope you all are preparing to vote! My ballot arrived in the mail yesterday!
It's illustrated by Gordon Laite, lettering by Paul Taylor and it's a wonderful book about fall, in what is labeled the Bowmar Nature Series! What surprised and delighted me is that so long ago the illustrations included a diverse group of children. I've shared some of those pages and a few of Fisher's rhymes! Enjoy the peek!

Many of you know that I volunteer at a non-profit, all-volunteer-run used bookstore. We rely solely on community donations but do purchase a few new books for one shelf. I am one of the people who vet the donations every week. We find a few gems among the many books we do put on our shelves. Some are exciting finds for me, most often older children's books. When I spotted this book and the author, I grabbed it. It was published in 1973 (50 years next year!) and though I was teaching at the time, I do not remember ever seeing it. I suspect you, too, would love to discover an older book by Aileen Fisher! But perhaps you know it and I have missed out all these years?

A treasured find, for sure. Thanks for sharing. The weasel tracks reminded me, I just reread Annie Dillard's musings after meeting a weasel face to face. I didn't get a post up this week as I'm into some fall clean-up, but if you haven't read Dillard's "Teaching a Stone to Talk," I recommend it. Hope all is well.

Linda, it is great that you found a new book from the past that shows diversity. The last page you shared is a delightful thought. It is cold here this week but the sun is still shining. Everyone is talking about how their heat has been on and if it gets colder the fireplace will be turned on, too. My little grandgirls are coming here tonight and staying over so I am decorating for Halloween so we can celebrate early.
Oh, terrific! Have fun with the girls. My grand girls' family is having a pumpkin-carving party on Sunday, always a delight. We may have snow coming that evening. The leaves are falling fast today! Thanks, Carol, glad you enjoyed the book pages I shared.
Oh, how cool! Yes, I would love to find an Aileen Fisher book. The poet series by the late, great Lee Bennett Hopkins and Renee LaTulippe is where I learned about her. Thanks for sharing a bit of the book with us. Oh, goodness...the skiiers can wait a bit. Yes?
