#Poetry Friday - Another Thank you!

It's Poetry Friday! Thanks, Mary Lee Hahn HERE at her blog, A(another) Year of Reading for hosting.

I wrote a week or so ago in gratitude for other gifts from Tabatha's Poetry Swap. Today, I want to thank Denise Krebs for the very personal and creative gifts she sent. She has figured out how much I love the moon and sent this box with a moon poem hidden, tucked into the underside. Isn't that terrific? Inside the box is a gorgeous new shopping bag! Denise wrote that it is from a restaurant in Carlsbad, CA, made by a relative of one of the workers there! It's lovely to receive something with a backstory! Denise also noted that she liked reading about my moon-watching on the prairie as she watched from the Mojave Desert. My son and grandson are in Seoul, Korea right now at the World Boy Scout Jamboree. I like to think that they watch the moon as I do from there!
FYI - My laptop is having a tune-up, not easy doing this on my phone! I will give it my best while commenting! (I'm slow!)

I am very grateful for your thoughtfulness, Denise! Thank you!

Poetry Friday - Poetry Swap Gratitude

It's Poetry Friday! Thanks, Margaret Simon HERE at her blog, Reflections on the Teche for hosting.  Be sure you read Margaret's Ode today of a sweet strawberry gift!

The long, hot days of summer bring a certain languor. Often it feels as if there is little to do but sit still and hope for a breeze. Tabatha Yeatts-Lonske's loving idea for Poetry Swaps, summer and winter, bring joyful surprises in the mail, bring a kind of energy that's been lacking. This time, I had the pleasure of receiving special mail from Tabatha herself! Here, a lovely note, some cute stickers, a quote I've placed at my workspace, and a poem about kindness.

Thanks so much, Tabatha!

I sigh and smile,

                read Thoreau,

                feeling blessed,

                ponder kindnesses

                we often miss:

                a smile and wave

                across the street,

                someone who stops

to let me pet their dog,

                and someone –

that poet across the miles –

who writes a poem for me.

Poetry Friday - Swap Pleasures

What a special thing that Jone Rush MacCulloch is hosting Poetry Friday HERE today because she had my name for the Winter Poetry Swap. The swap was first started by Tabatha Yeatts but this year coordinated by Laura Shovan. Thanks, Tabatha and Laura! Today Jone shows her expertise with golden shovels and reminds about her poetry postcard exchange. Be sure to check out her post along with all the others this Friday!
And a huge thanks to Jone for all the spectacular poems and gifts she sent to me. I am about to start a new year, like all of you. Jone set me up perfectly for 2022!

A lovely note came on the back of this wonderful original collage where Jone shares a found poem.

 "Lessons from Georgia O'Keefe"

Great artists
observe the world
Watching the light
looking
out the window
The full pale moon
Early morning
Lavender sky, purple hills
the feeling of space
Daily rituals-
rise with the fun
take an early walk
Don't sweat mistakes
something will come
Stay with it
Be yourself
Carve your own path

Then, more bounty: a new journal, a pack of fineliner pens, a framed poem/collage, and a bird ornament, with the beginning words of "I heard the bells on Christmas day. . ."

You will be able to enlarge if you click on the photo!

The Mystery

How did Jone know
that I love to see
numerous birds sitting
on my Christmas tree?
To her, I say thank you
for the serendipity.

Swapping Brings Joy - Always

Poetry Friday is hosted by Margaret Simon at Reflections on The Teche, and she's celebrating birthdays! Happy Birthday, Margaret. May poetry always sing to you, but especially on your special day!

I'm taking the next week or more off to travel to my brother and sister-in-law's home in mid-Missouri, to view the eclipse! I am excited. My daughter and the granddaughters, perhaps my son, will join us and we are preparing for an amazing experience! I hope some of you will be able to view it where you are! My brother owns an antique store in the town where we'll be and he told me an artist stopped by who told him she travels the world to view the eclipses and to paint them. We're planning to see what she creates this time.

More poetry, more wonderful swapping! I received a special package this week from across the ocean, from Iphigene Daradar in the Philippines! It's a fabulous poem and painting, and you've seen other wonderful paintings and poems by Iphigene, so you know I feel honored. Here's a picture of both, and the poem typed for easier reading.
Thanks Iphigene for bringing smiles to me a few days ago, and continually since!

Poetry Friday -Marvelous Mail

Diane Mayr hosts this final Poetry Friday of June with an introduction to a woman discovered because she resisted! You'll discover more when you visit Diane's post. Find all the poetry links at her blog, Random Noodling

One of the delights several times a year is the Poetry Swap created by Tabatha Yeatts, at The Opposite of Indifference. See the sidebar for the wonderful image Tabatha created for us this summer. I haven't participated since last summer, but am happy to look in my mailbox again to find something special, not only junk mail!

This time, my surprise is from Brenda Harsham at Friendly Fairy Tales who sent a beautiful postcard with an original watercolor and poem, and a sweet note. She must know I'm going to the beach very soon, and this made me want the time to fly even more so I can be there!
