July Chalk-A-Bration

Betsy Hubbard at Teaching Young Writers started this tradition a long time ago, where we're supposed to chalk a poem to share, take pics, and share. It's been raining in Denver for the past two days, so guess it's going to be another app instead of outside on my sidewalk. Next month? Visit Betsy first, then those who share their own chalking art!  Thanks Betsy!

Quite a "glass-full" week! Chalk-A-Bration too!

Join Ruth Ayres for Celebration Saturday! Tweet at CelebrateLu  Link up here!  Thanks Ruth!

Celebrating today and every day with words and pictures. A beautiful quote for you this week: "Memory is the scribe of the soul." Aristotle

This is the day of Chalk-A-Bration.
Thanks to Betsy Hubbard for beginning the tradition.
Check other poems out at her blog. Teaching Young Writers.
It's been a terrific final work week with the class I've had the pleasure of working with. I will finish the year with them on the last day, next Thursday, but my time with them is over, and I'll spend the first days of next week cleaning/straightening/organizing my office, making plans with our librarians for next year. I'll miss the students, but it's also exciting to think of the next year and what might be! Almost time for summer! I posted writing from the group I've been writing with here.

Chalking Goodbye to April with Shakespeare

Sharing one beautiful picture book that will help teachers share some Shakespeare with young students. Go to Alyson Beecher's Non-Fiction Picture Book Wednesday here!  Tweet at #NFPB14

Betsy Hubbard started the wonderful Chalk-A-Bration (here at Teaching Young Writers) to chalk poems at the end of each month, I think last year sometime. It's been quite an April-so much poetry to love and enjoy, so many bloggers doing amazing projects. I'm ending with a discovery I made just yesterday, a poetic line from Shakespeare from a new book, and an original poem, all in celebration of April, poetry month.

Betsy Hubbard of Teaching Young Writers and Two Writing Teachers has been hosting a Chalk-a-bration where we share poems chalked on the last day of the month. Here's mine, for all the slicers who wrote through the month. Congratulations!

And, congratulations to my three colleagues who also sliced every day: Suparna at Me and My Soliloquy, Max at Teaching From Behind, and Susan at UnderConstructionMax's class posted all month, too!

Poetry Friday Pinning and Snow Chalking

TeachingYoungWriters. Anastasia Suen is hosting today on Pinterest. Head over to see the fabulous board!  Thanks for doing this, Anastasia, very fun!
Lots going on for Poetry Friday.  It's the end of the month, so time for Chalk-a-bration with Betsy Hubbard at TeachingYoungWriters.

And I want to say a public thank you to Laura Shovan, Author Amok, for a wonderful month of Pantone Poetry for her birthday celebration. I didn't add my words today, but have written for nearly every day this month.  It's been a pleasure and a challenge.  Thanks much, Laura!

For the past few chalk-a-brations, it's either been too cold or snowy to chalk on the sidewalk, so I've "chalked" for the tradition, but become a little creative as to where I've done it. Hopefully more spring poems will bring spring faster. I imagine there will be some today. I've already read one!

Endings-Chalking

I think it was last year when Betsy Hubbard began her end-of-the-month CHALK-A-BRATIONS on her blog, Teaching Young Writers.  It's been lots of fun seeing what and how people chalk.  Since I moved, I've been 'chalking' on my IPad with an app titled ChalkDraw.   Don't forget to go to Betsy's blog to see all the other links to Chalk-a-bration!
