April - Poetry Month - Day Fifteen - Those Rabbits

It's April. It's Poetry Month!

Remember to check out the list of what everyone is doing at Susan Bruck's blog: Soul Blossom Living!

Plus! Check each day for the added line to the Progressive Poem, created by Irene Latham, now hosted by Margaret Simon! The link is to the right!

           TIME TO CELEBRATE POETRY!

My Plan: “I’m exploring the aesthetic of wabi-sabi, sometimes described as one that is “imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete” in nature. I think walking out in nature this past year gave me the joy needed to keep going, so I’ve gathered photos taken since March 2020 for inspiration in composing haigas, sometimes other forms.”

Looking for Extras

I'm slicing with the Two Writing Teachers community. It's always a pleasure to read what everyone writes about their lives.

Many of us are heading for the March slice of life challenge, and it is really something special to write and post every day. I found a quote that feels good for us when we imagine what that writing will be all the days of March:

"There is no such thing in anyone's life as an unimportant day."
Alexander Woollcott, from Long, Long Ago

I am grateful often for the nurture of nature, how much I love, even in the colorlessness of winter, noticing the beauty, and how good it makes me feel. In these contentious times, I need the respite of walking out. This morning I caught a nice picture of a rabbit. And some of you know that I have had a love/hate relationship with rabbits. I first moved into my home four years ago and love it still, but I have only designated parking spaces, no garage. The gang of rabbits made several meals of the wires in my car which cost me quite a bit of money.
I solved that problem, and now love watching these little animals, remembering the adventures of Peter Rabbit. I wonder what Beatrix Potter would think of these creatures that keep safe and warm in their burrows under neighborhood hedges, crossing streets and dodging cars without mishap, making do with the dry pickings of the plants of winter? Her small creatures lived in a broad woods with different dangers. And my creatures can also entertain if I notice. I see them leap and play in the open spaces, and it is good.

Happy Writing!

Haiku Bunny

I wish I could write this was the rabbit in my poem, but it isn't. I do not have a camera good enough to capture the picture. Maybe someday? Anyway, apparently it has moved in. I see it every day. Time to find The Runaway Bunny (Margaret Wise Brown) or The Tale of Peter Rabbit (Beatrix Potter).

The most precious gift we can offer anyone is our attention." ~ Thick Nhat Hanh

See this cute little rabbit, like so many rabbits everywhere, in my garden, in a nearby park, in my car!!  He is cute, isn't he, yet now I must call him, Ravenous Rabbit!  He, at least others like him, has cost me close to two thousand dollars so far.  You see, I have a Honda, and the Honda company in these last years have made changes to 'go green'.  The covering that coats the wires in certain parts/bundles are now soy based, and bunnies, cute little bunnies, like to eat that coating, snapping the wires in two.  Where some of the wires reside there actually is a flat place that is an excellent platform for the bunnies to snuggle down and chomp away!   Last Thursday I had a third repair, I added moth ball bundles, sprayed "critter ridder", and left my car for the night.  Friday morning the wires had been eaten again!
