April - Poetry Month - Day Eleven - Kyrielle

Happy Poetry Month, where poems parade in the streets, run like rivers within our veins or settle in our hearts every.single,time.
I am planning to use this older book pictured left that follows the alphabet with one kind of prompt each day. I used this book on occasion in the classroom years ago, but never worked through it day by day, with deliberation! Here goes!

You can discover the expectations of this form, a kyrielle, here, if you wish. This picture is mine, on a favorite beach years ago.

               Time Warp

Would you, could you come with me?

We’ll watch and wander by the sea.

We’ll hold the shells washed up on sand.

We’ll jump the waves. I’ll hold your hand.

We’ll follow birds with our own dance,

laughing at their zig-zag prance.

We’ll close our eyes. It will be grand.

We’ll jump the waves. I’ll hold your hand.

We’ll feel the beat of waves and waves

upon our feet. We’ll be most brave.

Imagine this, our special strand.

We’ll jump the waves. I’ll hold your hand.

And when the sun dips low adieu,

I’ll travel home with you, with you.

Our memories will stay on land,

keep jumping waves and holding hands.
