April - Poetry Month - 2024, Day Seven, Glide

    Happy Poetry Month!

If you'd like the poster, go here!

        I'm taking the advice from the poet who has given so much to help us all, including students and teachers, write poetry. I'll be moving from A to Z, obviously needing to combine a few to make it all come out to 30. FYI—Sometimes, Paul Janeczko offers a prompt to write a poem that begins with the specific alphabet letter instead of a poem type. It will be fun to be open to writing in all kinds of ways!

       Day Seven, words that begin with G. I chose "Glide"

       Some of you may see my FB posts from walking at a nearby lake, watching all the waterfowl hanging out, "gliding" onto the water so easily that it feels impossible. I have flown in a glider, and glided more than once in a zipline riding it down to the ground. But, though I've skied, I know I will never ski jump, am amazed to see what those jumpers can do. Ahh, they glide!

Ski Jump

I’m anticipating,

always celebrating

a skier’s glide.

They're way up high;

seem to touch the sky-

an awesome ride.

I can only imagine the jump.

But it’s an adrenalin pump

to see them slide.

  1. Linda, "But it’s an adrenalin pump". I am amazed that you glided on a zipline.

    1. Yes, because of school trips and the Rockies, too, Carol, lots of zip lining! Also, I've done a few in Costa Rica. Very fun! Thanks for coming by!

  2. Ski jumpers, ice skaters, skate boarders -- all the glides amaze me!
