April - Poetry Month - Day Three - It's Poetry Friday

It's April. It's Poetry Month!

Remember to check out the list of what everyone is doing at Jama Rattigan's blog: Jama's Alphabet Soup.

And check on the Water Poem Project where every day, a poet is sharing a prompt connected to water, hosted and created by Laura Shovan!

Plus! Check each day for the added line to the Progressive Poem, created by Irene Latham, now hosted by Margaret Simon! Link is above!

           TIME TO CELEBRATE POETRY!

This first Poetry Friday of April is hosted by Heidi Mordhorst who is "sheltering in poetry" and has invited us in, at My Juicy Little Universe! Thanks, Heidi!

A leap with the theme of CIRCLES for poetry month, poems & small sketches. I am looking forward to reading everyone's posts. I'm sure I will love each one, knowing they're done during a time we've not lived before. Best wishes for continuing good health to you all!

April 1 - haiku

April 2 - cinquain

Here's number three - a couplet

Frost offered sage advice, (in a poem years ago.)
“Good fences make good neighbors.” (How did he know?)

  1. I'm doing some catching up - I love what you are dooing with the circles of wood and with your art. Lovely combination! Are you gluing these in the notebook or sketching around them? and also, what size are they. The would make wonderful coasters if they were big enough!

    1. I sketch it out, make sure the circles can work as imagined. They're very small, Leigh Anne, most less than an inch in diameter. Thanks.

  2. I love that you are sampling several poetic forms as you 'circle' the month of poetry, Linda. Your 3D pictures with the wood circles make me smile. :)

  3. Just wonderful!! I am LOVING this project Linda. So clever what you're doing with the wooden circles (cutest fence I ever did see). :)

  4. How creative! What a wonderful response to Poetry Month. Your couplet makes me giggle. Robert Frost's wisdom is so defendable, isn't it?

  5. I love your poem sketches with the circles! Today's couplet takes an old poem and brings it right into the mess we're in today.

    1. That is lovely to hear, Cheriee. Thank you. I am expecting to carry on, as said before, a good thing to take my mind away from the news.

    1. Thank you very much, Kat. I thought it would be a little quicker, but I am certainly having fun with it. Sketching to include those circles is a bit tricky.

  13. I like the simplicity of your poem, the reference to Frost, and friendship connections. Your sketch reminds me of conversations I have had these past two weeks. Once a week, we seem to meet outdoors while his children are riding their little bikes. With the proper social distancing we ask how each other's family is doing. His wife is a OB-GYN nurse in NYC so she travels back and forth 4 days a week. She has to leave her newborn and 2 others at home with Daddy who is on paternity leave. Carlos gave me a glimpse of what nurse life is like during the quarantine. Stay safe, Linda.

    1. Thanks for sharing your news, Carol. I know there are stories about those still taking care of people everywhere. I have two different friends who've had to have hospital stays recently unrelated to the virus & they shared it was an entirely different world than what they've experienced in the past. Hoping you will stay safe, too!

  16. Your creativity with your circles and your words is impressive, Linda! Frost was full of "sage advice," wasn't he?

  17. Linda, your passel of circles is very pleasing. Are you really writing and drawing on them? I would be compelled to keep them pristine. This couplet is very timely indeed. I'll be happy when we can get back to passing lollipops over the neighborly fence (which your picture also made me think of)!

  25. I love the circle poetry and Frost - I adore the fence! How creative! Talk about the artist's eye ... this made me smile. Thank you, Linda, for the light-hearted moment; regarding your verse, Frost's "neighbor" clearly appreciated social distance ... I am with the poet: Before I built a wall/I'd ask to know/What I was walling in or walling out ... something to mull, now, isn't it. Sadly.
